Dear Colleague:
Effective November 17, 2023, the Division of Operations and Finance is adjusting the external search advertising days for positions titled vice chancellor, dean, associate/assistant vice chancellor, associate/assistant dean, department chair, executive director, director, and associate/assistant director. Implementing this change strengthens time-to-hire to act on robust pools of qualified candidates in a limited job market. The new timeline is fifteen (15) business days for the referenced position titles, previously (30) business days.
External search advertising days for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions will adjust to twenty (20) business days. Non-tenure track faculty positions, exempt staff professional positions, and non-exempt staff positions external searching advertising will all be five (5) calendar days. Moreover, the internal search advertising days for executive exempt administrative position titles referenced above would remain ten (10) business days, and tenured and tenure track faculty openings remain ineligible to be executed as internal searches. We are updating this information on the OIED website (i.e., search handbook; flowchart).
Requests for a search exemption will continue to be reviewed through submission of the search exemption request form accessible at https://uthsc.edu/oied/documents/search-exemption-update-2023.pdf. Search exemption/waiver requests that fall beyond the conditions identified in the current search exemption options will be considered case-by-case.
In closing, these advertising adjustments will enhance recruitment efficiency and candidate experience as you identify the best person for the job opening while adhering to EEO/AA guidelines.
Sincerely,
Raaj Kurapati
