Hi Neighbor!
My mind is sometimes like a snow globe. Not a crystal-clear globe reflecting light on a table or mantle. But one that is shaken. My mind is a globe-world where there are frequently snowstorms.
Especially during the holidays, the activities and to-do lists swirl through my head, blinding me in a mental blizzard and adding extra effort to every step. Like the globe, if I sit quietly and calmly for a while, the internal storm subsides.
The wise person who first introduced me to the idea of a snow globe mind was while learning meditation. I’ve grown to trust that it’s possible to clear the globe of my mind. Now I’m grateful to see the difference between a mental storm and clear skies. I can reduce the storm’s onslaught to flurries by simply sitting still, watching my thoughts swirl and settle after a while, just like the snow globe. I simply watch the thoughts arise and melt away.
