What Happens to Your Crops in Flooded Fields?
Farming is a business that cannot avoid weather risks. This growing season has been a total switch from our dry spring of 2023, creating a significant challenge where farmers are dealing with excessive water and saturated soils. The impact of excess water on crop growth and yield is influenced by crop type, soil characteristics, duration of excess water or flooding, initial soil water and nitrogen status of the soil before flooding, crop stage, soil and air temperature, and other factors.

Restorative Justice Emphasizes Accountability, Making Amends
The U.S. has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world, which quintupled from 1975 to 2005, representing a shift from rehabilitation to punishment. There has been a bipartisan transition in the past 15 years toward reducing both adult prison and youth justice populations, including in Wisconsin. Restorative justice repairs harm caused by crime. It emphasizes accountability, making amends, and—if both parties are willing—facilitated circles between victims, offenders, and other impacted parties. Click here to learn more about Extension’s response.

Mooving Cows: Learn Basic Cow Handling Skills to Stay Safe and Keep Cows Calm
When cows are handled appropriately, their fear and stress levels are kept to a minimum. Calm cows produce more milk and behave more predictably, reducing the risk of injury to both themselves and their human caregivers. Mooving Cows™ is an educational game where you can practice mooving cows around a dairy farm. It’s time for milking, so the cows need to be moved from the pasture and barn and loaded into the milking parlor. Learn about cow behavior and practice basic cow handling skills to stay safe and keep cows calm.
