OF+MO Hosts Second Annual Film and Music Day at the Capitol Join OF+MO Tuesday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oklahoma Capitol for Film and Music Day, which will highlight these industries for state legislature. Taking place on the second-floor rotunda, Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell and Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. will be among the guests to kick off the day.
This come-and-go event will feature over 55 film and music vendors, various music performances and a special effects make-up demo. This event is FREE and open to the public. Thanks to our presenting partners who will help make the day a success: Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries Office, the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture and the Cherokee Film Office.

Calling Okie Musicians: Get Ready to Wrecord with 24-Hour Music Race OF+MO is proud to be a sponsor of the upcoming Wrecords Music Festival, a 24-hour music recording race that begins at 11:59 p.m. on March 14 where independent artists will be given a genre, one lyric and an instrument that must be utilized to compose an original song. First place winners will receive a $2,500 cash prize, a professionally produced music video by Intellego Media and an automatic selection into the band lineup for USAO’s Droverstock and The Oklahoma Food Truck Championship. The winning track will also play over the radio waves sponsored by Mollman Media.

RECAP: Stream the 2025 Oklahoma Film Legislative Preview Event Last month, OF+MO, the Oklahoma City Film & Creative Industries Office, the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture and the Cherokee Film Commission hosted the 2025 Oklahoma Film Legislative Preview. This event featured a panel of film commission representatives as well as state leaders Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell and Rep. Brian Hill who highlighted the achievements of the state’s film and television industry, including newly released data on the economic impact of these sectors in Oklahoma.

Master Script Breakdown & Character Development for Costume Design with Valerie Parker Meridian Technology Center’s South Guthrie Campus is offering Script Breakdown & Character Development for Costume Designing, a hands-on course exploring how costume design enhances storytelling and character development. Led by costume designer Valerie Parker (“The Beldham”), this evening session on March 26 will guide participants through analyzing a short film script to make informed and creative wardrobe decisions.

Master the Art of Video Editing with Jonathan Shahan Moore Norman Technology Center is offering Video Editing Basics, a comprehensive 12-hour course designed for beginners eager to delve into the art of video editing. Led by Oklahoma filmmaker Jonathan Shahan (“Out of Exile”), this course provides foundational skills essential for transforming raw footage into compelling visual narratives with hands-on instruction in essential editing techniques and tools. The course takes place April 8–17 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Moore Norman Technology Center’s Franklin Road Campus.

Economic Study Reveals Significant Impact from Filmed in Oklahoma Act A newly released economic impact study has found that the Filmed in Oklahoma Act (FIOA), signed into law in May of 2021, has generated a record-breaking direct economic impact of over $531 million for the state.

City of Broken Arrow Approves New $100K Pilot Film Incentive Program The Broken Arrow City Council has officially approved a new $100,000 pilot film incentive program designed to attract film productions and drive economic growth in the community. The Broken Arrow Film Incentive will have Oklahoma's second-largest municipal film incentive, behind only Oklahoma City with key features including 10% rebate on local spending during a film project; $500 rebate for every 12 room nights spent at a Broken Arrow hotel; and 10-20% rebate on the cost of production space used during filming.

Film Friendly: Engagements + Recent Certifications OF+MO is seeking to engage with leadership among statewide cities, towns, counties and tribal nations to promote the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program and learn more about each community’s structure and development plans.
Last month, OF+MO liaised with leadership representing the City of Chandler and Wagoner County – and recently certified the City of Owasso, who achieved film friendly certification becoming the 39th community to do so.
