UMA

Important changes to how you log into Zoom

What is happening?

Beginning on May 8th, 2022 you will be required to log into your UMS Zoom account using your maine.edu Single Sign-On (SSO) username and password.

What does this mean for you?

If you usually access Zoom through maine.zoom.us or the UMS myCampus portal, you will see no changes when logging into Zoom. However, if you log into Zoom at www.zoom.us, through the desktop client, or using a mobile device app using any of the following accounts, they will cease to grant access to Zoom after May 8th:
  • Sign-on with Google
  • Sign-on with Zoom Email and Password
  • Sign-on with Facebook
  • Sign-on with Apple
If you attempt to log in via another method, you will be automatically redirected to the UMS SSO login page.
To log into your UMS Zoom account after May 8th, please follow the directions linked below:

Why is this happening?

The new login requirements will help to minimize the risk of your Zoom account being compromised via the alternative sign-on options. After this change is implemented, as long as your UMS account is secure, your Zoom account will be secure too.
This change will also help to simplify the process of accessing your UMS Zoom account as you will always be utilizing your UMS username and password credentials and will not need to maintain a separate set of credentials with Zoom or other third-party authentication options.
For additional assistance, please feel free to contact IT using any of the methods provided at itsupport.maine.edu.
