Governor's New Office
Governor Cox Focuses on Rural Utah with SUU Office
Underscoring a campaign promise to focus on the interests of rural Utah, Governor Spencer J. Cox opened a new rural office on our campus. “This working office is an important step in heightening the profile of rural Utah,” said Governor Cox. “We thank SUU for supporting this one-of-a-kind partnership, and we look forward to expanding opportunities for all Utahns through this office.”

SUU Joins the WAC
Southern Utah Announces Western Athletic Conference Transition
Continuing the traditional relationship between the state of Utah and the Western Athletic Conference, Southern Utah University announced today that it will join the WAC effective July 1, 2022. Our Thunderbirds will be joining the league, along with Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin from the Southland Conference, bringing back FCS football to the Western Athletic Conference.

SUU Ranked Nationally for International Students
SUU Ranked Nationally for International Students
Your alma mater is ranked as the nation’s 35th highest master’s degree-granting university for attracting international students. That is according to the 2020 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange. The Open Doors report is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and we are the only Utah university ranked in the top 40 in any of the categories rated by the annual report.

2020 Dance Educator Awards
Faculty and Alumni Represent SUU with Three Dance Educator of the Year Awards
Faculty and alumnae received three teaching awards presented by the Utah Dance Education Organization (UDEO) for the year 2020. Alexandra Bradshaw-Yerby, Assistant Professor of Dance at SUU, was awarded the Higher Education Educator of the Year. Courtney Pearce, SUU alumna, received the Secondary Dance Educator of the Year, Courtni Giles, SUU Dance Education alumna received the Elementary Dance Educator of the Year Award. Congratulations!

Amanda Wilford
MBA Program Welcomes Alumna as New Director
Despite the troublesome year that many schools experienced in 2020, SUU's Master of Business Administration experienced another year of growth in both numbers and in excellence. The program more than doubled in size and welcomed a new director, Dr. Amanda Wilford, who graduated from SUU in 2003, and holds advanced degrees from Purdue University and the University of Maryland.

General Counsel
Maureen Redeker Named General Counsel
Following an extensive national search, Maureen Redeker has been named General Counsel here at SUU. Redeker was most recently a deputy general counsel at Kansas State University and has more than a decade of legal experience with a focus in higher education. She began her appointment on January 6, and replaces Ann Marie McIff Allen who was appointed a judge in Utah's 5th District Court.
