CLAS welcomes inaugural director for School of Gender, Race and Nations
Dr. Winston Grady-Willis joins the College as the inaugural director of the School of Gender, Race and Nations. Grady-Willis comes to PSU from Metropolitan State University of Denver where he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Africana Studies. The principal focus of his research has been the contemporary Black freedom struggle, including nonviolent direct action, the Black Power movement and the reemergence of Black feminism. He is the author of Challenging U.S. Apartheid: Atlanta and Black Struggles for Human Rights, 1960-1977, and co-author of the e-textbook, The Struggle Continues: Historical and Contemporary Issues in Africana Studies.

| Biology prof. lends expertise to PBS' SuperNature - Wild Flyers Dr. Michael Murphy, professor of Biology, worked as the science adviser/field facilitator for the "Crowded Skies" episode of the PBS show SuperNature - Wild Flyers. (View the Oregon filming at the 19:45 minute mark).

Staffing updates and open positions
Dean's Office
Kris Fedor will start as academic specialist for the CLAS Dean's Office on August 15. He comes to CLAS from PSU's Student Affairs office where for the last four years he has served as the Special Assistant to the Dean of Student Life. Previous to that, he was the Executive Assistant to the Dean at DePaul University in Chicago.
