Front Page News Features Oregon

Front Page News, a nationally broadcast television producer specializing in thirty minute and short-form Public Television stories highlighting specific industries and topics, spent some time in Oregon this fall. They  produced a video with Travel Oregon CEO, Todd Davidson, showcasing the economic impact and the health benefits of travel and tourism.
Nationally, the tourism industry contributes $947 billion to the country’s economy, directly employing 15.1 million Americans. And in Oregon, tourism is an $11.3 billion industry, directly employing more than 109,000 Oregonians, with secondary impacts that generate another 56,900 jobs.

SATW Recap

Travel Oregon supported Travel Portland in hosting more than 300 members of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW)  for their annual conference held Oct. 29 - Nov. 2 in Portland.  SATW is the premier association of travel journalists and destination associates in the United States and Canada.
In partnership with all seven Regional Destination Management Organizations, Travel Oregon developed and hosted 44 members on 10 pre and post tours that highlighted each of the region’s natural wonders, culinary delights and authentic experiences. In addition, Travel Oregon hosted an evening event called “Oregon Trails to Tales” at the Jupiter Hotel where attendees were treated to regional chef specialties, craft beverages and Oregon swag.
Feedback from attendees and partners has been outstanding. We anticipate more coverage inspired by these tours including this coverage in the Huffington Post featuring the Columbia River Gorge.
