4-H Summer Intern Update

Hello 4-H Families!

Just a heads up that every other week I will be submitting a brief update to the 4-H Newsletter as to what I have been working on and planning for 4-H! Here is this week's update:

For the past few weeks, I’ve been planning lots of fun and exciting upcoming events! These include Cloverbud Day Camp, Art Camp, Cardboard Camp, Watermelon Day, and the Fair!
The Fair is just around the corner and I’ve planned to lead some fun activities in the Action Center this year! Below you will find a schedule of when I will be there leading activities and the activities planned for each day! The Action Center will be in the Expo Building near the Silent Auction table and across from the Adult Leaders Food Stand. I will be there each day and I hope you stop by and say hi!
Action Center Schedule Fair 2022:
Wednesday, July 20th: Paper Airplanes 10:00 am- 12:00 pm & 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Thursday, July 21st: Bracelet Making 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Friday, July 22nd: Paper Plate Animals 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Saturday, July 23rd: Paper Tube Monsters 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Sunday, July 24th: Origami Frog Racing 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

For our Cloverbuds, there are two more camps coming up! Day on the Farm is July 27th at the Halbur Farm. Youth will be learning about animals and doing fun farm-related activities! Outdoor Survival is August 17th and there we will be making S’mores with solar ovens and using GPS tracking to explore nature!
There are two more camps coming up for general 4-H members, grades 3-10. Cardboard Camp is a three-day camp held on August 2-4 and youth will be building a city out of cardboard! Each day there will be a team challenge as well! Art camp is August 8-10 and is three days of jam-packed activities! Youth will be learning about different art media, painting, and photography!

National Watermelon Day is August 3rd and we will be holding a watermelon day to celebrate! I’m still in the midst of planning it but I have lots of fun watermelon ideas! Keep a lookout for more information coming soon!

Some other things I’ve been working on are more ways to promote 4-H. These include different activities and events that I can attend to promote 4-H! I am also planning for an upcoming 4-H open house where non-4-H families can come and learn about 4-H as well as participate in some fun 4-H activities. The start of a new 4-H year is coming up fast and to help start things off strong there will be a 4-H Fall Kick-Off event that I am planning as well. More information to come!

I hope to see you at the fair!
Sincerely,
Makayla Stommel
