Hi Neighbor!
Amid our fast-paced and demanding lives, the concept of taking time away from the chaos and immersing ourselves in solitude and self-reflection has become popular. I’ve been on a few different retreats in the past and last year had the pleasure of attending one in St. Michael’s Maryland with Karen Moon, a local therapist. The significance of taking a retreat is not about the length of time, it doesn't have to be a week away. It’s more about creating space to reflect and listen to yourself. Even if you can only take a morning, an afternoon or one day for this practice it will be valuable. A retreat is a deliberate endeavor away from distractions — the issues which currently crowd our mind, our heart, and our spirit. You come away from it with clarity and a feeling of rejuvenation.
I’ve decided I’m going to retreat at least once a year.

Hormonal Help for Hot Flashes
Summer heat has been raging as of late which makes great fuel for your hot flash fires. Some of the ways we look to dampen these hormonal flames are with tools nature provides.
A clinically proven rhubarb extract called Estrovera™ is one such tool. It is a non- hormonal approach in tablet form that reduces the occurrence of hot flashes in as little as 30 days. The extract, also known as ERr 731, has been featured in multiple JAMA studies. Another invaluable ingredient is the herb Maca. A patented extract called MacaGO® that is featured in the product MacaPause® has been clinically proven to support hormone balance. In my experience recommending the product to menopausal women, reports of decreased hot flashed, improved energy and sleep, and weight loss are very common.
When these over-the-counter options no longer provide relief in some of our customer base, we often consult with them and their physicians about the benefits of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. This gives a customized approach that is unique to each female patient based on their symptoms, medical history, and family history.
Next month, we will look further at this topic and debunk some of the longstanding negative myths about BHRT. Until then, be well, healthy & happy.
