National Thought Leader in Career and Life Design Visits Campus to Meet with Key Stakeholders and Discuss Student Success
| |
Dr. Farouk Dey, Vice Provost and architect of the Imagine Center for Integrative Learning and Life Design at Johns Hopkins University, (Ted Talk here) a national luminary in the domain of student success, was on campus Monday to collaborate and share his successful approach to an integrative career and life design, cross-enterprise model. Dr. Dey met with a group of key stakeholders in the areas of alumni and career connections, academic services, student affairs, marketing and enrollment management to discuss how developing an ecosystem that fosters curiosity, being audacious to try new things, and the development of a great mentor network from early in their educational journey can lead to not only landing that first destination job, but to living out their life purpose in a fulfilling way.
“The results for Dr. Dey have been stunning, and we are so fortunate to have him help us as we redesign what we formerly called, “Career Services,” said President Tim Collins. “He has yielded remarkable success in increasing student engagement and outcomes, making his approach coupled with Dr. Andy Chan of Wake Forest University, another collaborator with Walsh University, as the two national leaders for this initiative within the domain of higher education.”
Dey stressed that student development is not located in any one office, but rather it is the campus-wide effort that creates success. The campus will be learning more on Opening Day (August 15) and in the coming months.
“There are not another two professionals in America with greater expertise in this area than Dr. Chan and Dr. Dey, and they are assisting us in replicating their success for our students. That is collaboration at its best,” stated Dr. Mike Dunphy, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
