On June 18, the Alumni Association hosted a networking event at Pinstripes, bringing together recent alumni and Montgomery College employees for an evening of meaningful conversations, professional development, and community building. Attendees had the opportunity to explore career pathways, gain insights from experienced professionals, and expand their networks. Learn more about what made this event so special.

Montgomery College honored the Class of 2026 during Commencement ceremonies on May 21 and 22, celebrating graduates whose achievements reflect the College’s mission to transform lives, enrich the community, and change the world. More than 1,500 graduates participated in the two ceremonies, representing an estimated 3,098 students eligible to graduate. Watch the highlight video from this year’s ceremonies.

Four Grunley Construction Company, Inc. employees share a unique connection: Michael Melgar ’24, Mathew Rivas ’22, Ryan Myers ’05, and George Rusk ‘88 are each proud Montgomery College Alumni Association members! These alumni enjoy sharing their stories while collaborating on various projects. The connection between Grunley and MC goes well beyond these four employees. Thank you to Dawn Burns Potosky for her tremendous service to the Alumni Association, serving as president for the past two years! At our final Board of Governors meeting of the 2025-26 academic year, she was formally recognized for her outstanding service to the Montgomery College alumni community. The Alumni Association participated in the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Summer RISE program for the second consecutive year. Staff and volunteers attended events such as the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) reachHIRE Professional Pathways Expo and the Macklin Business Institute (MBI) fundraiser, while also meeting with more than a dozen alumni. Shoutout to Montgomery College legend Phil Martin for recently being inducted into the Maryland Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame! During his tenure at MC, Coach Martin taught for 31 years and coached football for 20 years, mentoring hundreds of young people to become successful today. Alumni continue to honor his contributions to the history of the program. Listen to testimonies from former players.

AUGUST 24: FALL CONVOCATION

The Fall 2026 Convocation for Montgomery College will take place during Professional Week, which begins on Monday, August 24. This year’s Fall Convocation marks one year since the new MC brand campaign, “Exceptional Education. Extraordinary Outcomes.”, was publicly unveiled.

SEPTEMBER 17: HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH KICKOFF

Montgomery College celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 annually. Alumni are invited to participate in the kickoff on Thursday, September 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Rockville Campus, where we plan to launch the Hispanic and Latino/a MC Alumni Chapter. 

OCTOBER 14: FALL ALUMNI SOCIAL

The Alumni Association will host the second annual Fall Alumni Social on Wednesday, October 14 from 4-9 p.m. at Fallen Oak Distilling in Olney, Maryland. Last year’s event brought together more than 200 alumni across 40 different class years. Don’t miss out–make sure to RSVP in advance!
