NYU Clery Campus Notice

On Saturday, July 26 at 1:31 am, the NYU Department of Campus Safety received a report from NYPD of a shooting that occurred at approximately 12:49 am outside 530 LaGuardia Place in Manhattan.

The two suspects involved fled the scene going north on LaGuardia Place, before turning west on West 3rd Street and continuing west past Sixth Avenue.

The victim, a non-NYU affiliate, was transported to a hospital due to injuries. The NYPD is investigating this matter.

The first suspect is masculine presenting with a dark complexion and was wearing a white t-shirt, red shorts, white sneakers, and a black bandana on their head. The second suspect is masculine presenting with a medium complexion and wearing a black t-shirt, black, pants, black sneakers, and a black bandana on their head.

Be aware of your surroundings, especially when walking alone.
Walk in groups whenever you can. There is always safety in numbers.
Using a smartphone or other electronic devices, especially with earbuds, can be distracting and may make you a vulnerable target for an assailant.
Trust your instincts. If you feel that you may be in danger, seek out others -- a store, or an open NYU facility that has Campus Safety Officers posted.
If you are the victim of a crime, do not engage with the assailant as that may put you in further danger.
Report suspicious behavior to Campus Public Safety without delay.
