| Georgia Tech Announces New Chief Information Security Officer Joseph Lewis |
Following a national search, the Georgia Institute of Technology has selected Joseph “Joe” Lewis as its new associate vice president of Information Technology and chief information security officer. He began the role on July 28, and reports directly to Leo Howell, vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer.

Breakfast After Dark Honors Second and Third Shift Staff |
On July 24, the Administration and Finance (A&F) Staff Culture Advisory Council hosted Breakfast After Dark, a late-night appreciation event honoring second and third shift employees. The evening featured a catered breakfast, music, games, and a chance to connect with colleagues in a welcoming setting.
The event reflects the Council’s mission to foster an appreciative culture for all staff, regardless of shift. Volunteers from across campus helped make the night a success.

Environmental Health and Safety Earns National Awards |
Environmental Health and Safety was recently recognized nationally by the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association with four Institutional Awards for 2025, marking the second consecutive year the department has received top honors. This year’s awards highlight innovative programs in makerspace safety, chemical inventory reconciliation, team-based safety culture, and respiratory protection tailored to lab environments.

Kick off the start of the academic year by joining us for A&F Connects on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 3 p.m., to learn more about Georgia Tech’s FY26 budget, federal funding sensitivities, and the University System of Georgia’s Merit Pay Program. This will be a hybrid event and more information will be shared closer to the date.
A&F Connects offers a refreshed approach to the A&F Town Hall while continuing to foster the exchange of information and create opportunities for attendees to connect with one another and share what is top of mind. As such, A&F Connects will be conducted in hybrid and in-person only formats – a schedule with dates, times, and locations will be shared in the next A&F News.

| Apple Accounts Using Georgia Tech Email Addresses to Become Institute-Managed Accounts |
Beginning Aug. 4, students, faculty, staff, and alumni using an "@gatech.edu" email address with their Apple Account will need to make a switch to a non-Georgia Tech email address. This applies to those with personal Apple Accounts on personal devices and on Georgia Tech-managed iOS devices, such as a MacBook or iPhone. Personal accounts that continue to use a Georgia Tech-domain email address will become Institute-managed Apple Accounts.

| Biannual Compliance Training Launching Soon |
All faculty, staff, and students who are active employees as of Aug. 1 will be required to complete the 2025 Fall Biannual Compliance Training by 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, Sept. 12. The training will be available beginning Aug. 25, and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Georgia Tech has seen an increase in compromised Duo accounts and direct deposit fraud attacks. Employees are advised to remain extremely vigilant and know how to protect themselves against cyber threats online.
