Summer Reading 2024
New students, begin planning your summer reading now.
- When can I start? You can start reading at any time. When you attend laptop training, a Technology intern will guide you through the summer reading and Beanstack websites. If you would like to keep track of your reading minutes (optional), you can simply keep a written log until you have access to Beanstack.
- What’s required? Once you have your laptop and @marist.com email credentials, you must submit the Summer Reading Pledge. The pledge involves committing to read at least one book for fun this summer. Choose any genre or subject that interests you, ensuring it’s something you haven't read before, is on or above your reading comprehension level, and is appropriate for you.
- What’s due when school starts? Before the first day of school, you must submit two short activities via Beanstack: a six-word review of the book and a three to five sentence reflection.
- Is summer reading in addition to projects assigned by teachers? Yes, for instance, incoming 7th grade students are also required to read “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey.
- How can I learn more? Visit the Summer Reading website full details.
