Better TogetherEleven companies and organizations joined Bluff Country Collaborative partners in September with one goal: bringing industry and education together for shaping the future talent pool. Attendees included Courtesy Corporation - McDonald’s, Fillmore County Journal, Fastenal, 7 Rivers Alliance, Spring Grove Public School, Kwik Trip, People’s Energy Coop, City of Spring Grove, City of Houston, La Crescent Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, Houton County EDA, Workforce Development, Inc., CEDA, Southeast Perkins Consortium, and Southeast Service Cooperative.
Centered around learning how FutureForward™ works, professionals explored the layers of career-connected learning, from career awareness to exploration to employment. Ideas generated by the group range from website update or redesign, marketing support and creating flyers, to internships (engineering, finance, administration), mentorship, and seasonal paid positions. Skills learned and practiced through these experiences include customer relations, organization, networking, and self-awareness.
Bottom line is industry and education are better together.
