Dear Friends,

An astounding 850 guests attended our Gala on April 4th, creating an energy that buzzed from the Fairmont Century Plaza’s reception area where they first arrived for cocktails, to the ballroom, where the dinner and program took place. We are so proud to have honored longtime Board member and immediate past Board Chair David J. Schindler, Esq. with Bet Tzedek’s Luis Lainer Founder’s Award, Chief Justice of the State of California (ret.) Tani Cantil-Sakauye with the 2023 Rose L. Schiff Commitment to Justice Award, and Bet Tzedek Elder Justice attorney Dominique Sanz-David, Esq. with the Jack H. Skirball Community Justice Award.

We were also thrilled to have Mayor Karen Bass as our opening speaker.

Together, we raised $2.48M, funds which will ensure that our attorneys and advocates can continue providing free comprehensive legal services, education, and policy advocacy on behalf of thousands of low-income individuals and families across Los Angeles County.

We are SO close to hitting an all-time record of $2.5M. Help us cross that finish line by donating to support our various programs, from protecting clients facing evictions to assisting vulnerable seniors and supporting our conservatorship clinics.

Pro Bono Opportunity: Help an Elderly Woman Protect Her Family's Property and Prepare Estate Planning Documents

Case Description: Ms. S is an 80-year-old woman whose husband died in 2019. She has four sons and several grandchildren. Ms. S and her husband owned a house as community property. She has a healthcare power of attorney, but it names her deceased husband as agent. Ms. S would like to create a will or trust to protect her property and secure her family’s financial future.

Work Required & Deadlines: (1) Transfer the title of the house to Ms. S' name (can be transferred without administration). (2) Prepare estate planning documents for Ms. S.

Staffing: This case is best suited for an attorney with estate planning and real estate experience.
