Extending a warm welcome to our newest employees!

HWS’ Employee Assistance Program, Bree Health, is a resource for HWS faculty and staff. Bree Health offers confidential counseling and individualized wellbeing resources that can support you when you need it. Employees and family members can receive support through Bree Health’s web portal or mobile app. View the Bree Health flyer for registration instructions.

Employees can view their vacation, sick and personal leave balances by clicking on the “Leave Balances” tile on the PeopleSoft Employee Self Service Dashboard. Leave balances can also be viewed on each pay stub, which are accessible through the “Pay” tile.

HWS’ summer hours will begin on Monday, June 9 and run through Friday, August 8. During this period, administrative offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., a reduction of one hour per day. This policy applies to all 12-month full-time staff who are normally scheduled to work 37.5 hours or more per week. See HR’s email from 4/10/25 for full details on the Summer Leave Policy. Upcoming Lunch and Learn: Book Club Discussion of Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah’s Chain-Gang All-Stars

Join the English Department and Human Resources for a book club discussion of Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah’s Chain-Gang All-Stars. Professor Adjei-Brenyah is the incoming 2025-2026 Peter Trias Writer-in-Residence and will be joining HWS in August. 

Chain-Gang All-Stars was a finalist for the 2023 National Book Award for Fiction, shortlisted for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize and was selected for the New York Times Top Ten Books of the Year. 

A copy of the book can be found at the Warren Hunting Smith Library as well as at various local library systems in the region including the OWWL Library System, the Finger Lakes Library System, and the Onondaga County Public Library System.

Details: Thursday, May 1, from 12-1 pm in the Common Dining Room. A subsidized lunch price of $5 will be offered. You do not need to have finished the book to come and join in on the discussion!
