Dive into the underwater world of whales with Colleen McLaughlin Barlow’s breathtaking paintings and extraordinary crystal sculptures of whale bones.

Table of Treasure - Sounds of the Night: Bats

Felix Martinez is a registered professional biologist with a Master’s degree in bat ecology. Learn how bats communicate and navigate through the night and other mysteries.

Air breathing fishes are way cool because..

Did you know that there are over 450 fish species that breathe air? Ryan Shartau, a PhD candidate in Zoology, will show you some of the diversity and adaptations of these fascinating fishes.

Paul Nicklen is one of the world’s most renowned wildlife photographers of our generation. Academically trained as a biologist, Nicklen has been an assignment photographer for National Geographic for nearly 20 years. Hear about his work with Spirit Bears.

Open House for Teachers

Learn how you can use the collection with your students. Experience hands-on activities, join a teacher-focused tour, watch Raising Big Blue, try out a scavenger hunt in the galleries, and get inspired to teach your students about biodiversity, evolution, ecology, and conservation.

Explore 34 biodiversity hotspots around the world through stunning images. Presented by Terre Sauvage, Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, and the Nature Picture Library. In partnership with the Consulate General of France in Vancouver.
