Students may either:
- Remain in the Field Experience Lab knowing there may be some instability either by the student or the agency as it relates to COVID. As of today, we expect most placements to be in-person, but given the uncertainty of COVID we cannot predict how this may change. Any disruptions in Field placement will need to be addressed on a case by case basis. If students are unable to be placed in a new Field learning setting, they will be given alternate assignments to complete the course. If you choose this option, please keep in mind that once the Field Office has begun the process of matching you to an agency, you cannot drop the course.
OR
- Drop the Field Experience Lab course and choose an elective in keeping with any course requirements for graduation. Students will be waived from the Field Experience Lab requirement in Albert.
If you choose to remain in the Field Experience Lab, please be sure that you have submitted your survey and uploaded your resume for placement. Below is some additional guidance and information to aid in your transition to Field Learning for the Spring semester, and also to respond to some of the questions we have received.
- At this time, it is likely that a majority of students will engage in in-person Field placement settings and regular assignments throughout the Spring semester.
- Please note that COVID-19 health and safety protocols for each Field placement agency may differ from those of NYU and from agency to agency, given that each has their own contexts and clientele. All agencies, however, are expected to adhere to New York State and City COVID-19 health and safety policies.
- Should you have questions/concerns about your Field placement, please contact Dr. Delverlon Hall, Field Coordinator of the BS Program, at dh10@nyu.edu.
If you choose to drop the Field Experience Lab - please drop the course in Albert and choose another course that fits into your degree progress. If you would like to discuss your academic plans, please feel free to contact your academic advisor.
While the University has a formal add/drop deadline of February 6,
we ask that students make their decision and submit the google form by January 19 for two reasons:
- To allow the agencies that we work to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
- Students will want to find a substitution that best meets their degree requirements for graduation and enroll before the add/drop period deadline.
Please keep in mind that whether you decide to remain in Field Experience Lab or drop the course, ALL BS students are required to take Practice and Field for two semesters during the senior year.
