John 2:1-2
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
New International Version (NIV)
I love weddings!  It has been my privilege over the last 35 years to have a front row seat as young couples have entered into the marriage covenant. Unforgettable!
John tells us that Jesus attended a wedding early in his ministry.  When his mother asked him to save the couple embarrassment when the reception ran out of wine, at first Jesus deferred.  But his mother’s faith in her son prevailed.  Jesus transformed water into wine.
Short years ago, I shared in a rehearsal in our worship center and heard a pastor-hero of mine, Dr. Kenneth Brown summarize this moment in a simple phrase as he prayed for the couple.  “At Cana, our Savior provided everything the couple needed.”  He asked God to do it again.  Pray this today for your marriage and for others in your family-friendship network.  Our Savior still knows what we need and provides it perfectly!
Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for the beautiful institution of marriage.  You started it in the Garden.  To this day, you alone sustain marriages by your grace and power.  Grant us grace today to receive everything we need for our homes from you and gratitude to recognize your provision.  We pray in the name of our miracle-working Savior, Jesus.  Amen.
