2 Kings 22:10-13
Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.  He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Akbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king’s attendant:  “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
New International Version (NIV)
Where in the word are you?  Pastor Mike Glenn asks his staff members that question regularly.  If they have not spent time with the Lord in his word, he encourages them to do that right away.

While cleaning the temple, King Josiah’s people found the scroll of Deuteronomy.  When they read it to him he tore his robe in dismay.  Israel had not been reading or practicing the law.

Imagine driving on a freeway looking up directions as you go.  Please do not do this!  Just as dangerous are Christians who hear but do not do what God says.  Disciples set our direction in the word before we act.  Where in the word are we?  What is God telling us to do?  Let’s hear and obey!
Pray with me:
Father, we need to hear from you.  We need a word from you.  If we don’t hear from you what will we do?  Speak Lord. Your servants are listening.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen!
This year our Every Day with Jesus readings will follow The Bible Project Read Scripture Plan.  Copies of this reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download
the app at readscripture.org.  Read through the Bible with us in 2019!
Joyfully,
