Welcome to week 5 of the fall semester!
Exams are coming up, make sure to study and ask for help if needed. There are many resources around you, we believe in you! Come to our weekly study sessions if you need a place to study.

Study Session with Las Ganas - ACE 2940 from 3 to 5 PM on September 24th (Snacks provided)
How to study smarter, not harder - Spaced repitition (review material at gradually increasing intervals and you can use flashcards and schedule review sessions), mind mapping (Try making connections between concepts by creating a mind gap to see the bigger picture), active recall (quiz yourself on the material without looking at references), pomodoro technique (give yourself short breaks while studying), feymman technique (teach what you studied to someone else or to yourself out loud)
Mentoring con Ganas
Mentors and mentees had 1-on-1 time to discuss various topics. Studying techniques to pre-professional career opportunities, the pairs were given time to go over these topics in locations of their choosing.
Research Fellowship
This week in class Las Ganas research fellows were lead by Dr. Lantz in the library computer labs to discuss how to read a research paper and what good writing etiquette is in terms of scientific research

Become a Member of Psi Chi (apply here)
Students who do well in Psychology or Neuroscience are encouraged to join Psi Chi: the International Honor Society in Psychology. The membership application deadline is September 29th.
LPA is a student-led group at UIC dedicated to connecting students with professionals and advocating for mental health awareness, especially for underrepresented groups, through campus events, therapy, and social media.

This symposium will bring together students, faculty, and professionals from across the nation to engage with USAID leaders, employees, and partners.
Whether or not you are associated with a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) or identify as Latinx, all are welcome to participate.

IGNITE - Program for Emerging Leaders

The program supports students new to UIC as they begin to navigate and explore the concepts of leadership. IGNITE’s cohort meetings will be on Fridays, 10 AM -12 PM. Ignite is a SIX week program, running weekly from  September 20th – October 25th.
