Nov 4, 2022
Hello, friends:
Deep into autumn, anticipating the holidays, highly significant public elections and the start of a new university presidential administration…
What have we done so far this semester? Three theatre productions, a major family weekend concert, and jazz showcase. We’re about to showcase our orchestra and instrumental ensembles, followed immediately by concerts from our chorus and vocal ensembles. We’re hosting a night at the Art Institute of Chicago with free admission and student talks throughout. The following week we will feature A Dream of Home, our 2022 Dance Concert. We’re preparing to open LOCUS for Spring registration, and proceeding to plan Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. We’ve hosted our APR site visitors, and are in the process of reacting and responding to their most positive and reflective report. We’re deep into it, folks, and it looks like we’re firing on all cylinders. Thanks for all it takes to keep the machine running, and have a happy November!

Enterprise Learning Hub
We'd like to encourage all Faculty and Staff, as part of your pre-semester preparation, to check in at the Enterprise Learning Hub, where lives access to any of the required online training sessions about which we often receive reminders or announcements. We ask you to keep up with those required sessions, and complete them in timely fashion so we don’t have to track you down (knowing that the ultimate penalty for non-compliance is removal from email and university systems). Dance Concert: The Dream of Home
|
Thur-Sun, November 17-20 | Thu-Sat 7:30PM CST, Sun 2:00PM CST
Newhart Family Theatre
In a world grappling with care for refugees by the thousands, this concert seeks to amplify the dignity of their voices and investigate how imagination promotes social justice by showing us a way to visualize a possible world. The role of the imagination is essential in breaking through the rigid structures and limited perceptions that prevent people from envisaging possibility, and this concert uses its distinct platform in dance to present a humanistic vision of compassion, community and connection. Our performance features Mexican choreographer, José Limón's glorious dedication to the devastated communities in war-torn Europe, Missa Brevis and invites you to ask the question, “What is home to me, and how can we imagine a global home?”
