The Online Master of Science in Computer Science (OMSCS) program held its first OMSCS Welcome Week last week, helping nearly 3,000 incoming graduate students acclimate to all of Tech's fun and long-standing traditions. The virtual sessions also informed them of all the resources that are available to online students.

Volunteer Opportunity: M.S. and Ph.D. Students Wanted for Upcoming VGSS Panel

The Virtual Graduate School Showcase (VGSS), Hosted by Georgia Tech is looking for master’s and Ph.D. students to participate in GradCONNECT, a virtual panel session, on October 20, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern Time. GRADConnect is a facilitated session where current graduate students will share their stories about life in Atlanta and at Tech with prospective students attending the VGSS. Pre-submitted questions from prospective students will be shared with panelists in advance. The VGSS is hosted by GT’s Office of Graduate Education and Pre-Graduate and Pre-Professional Advising. | Funding Opportunity: Presidential Management Fellows Program
|
The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. PMF Program is a flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates. The PMF program provides some sustenance during the first years of employment and encourages development of leadership capabilities, ultimately encouraging and leading to a career in the government. The PMF Class of 2024 Application is anticipated to be open for a 2-week period in the fall of 2023.

Grad Women's Welcome Back Coffee Hour

All new and current GT graduate women are invited to join the Women's Resource Center on Wednesday, August 23, at 10am for a coffee hour at the Women's Resource Center! Wellness Opportunity: Open Enrollment for Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) now opens
|
The enrollment/waiver period for Georgia Tech’s Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) provided by Stamps Health Services opens on July 24 and closes on September 25. Coverage for this policy year will begin on August 1, 2023, and end on July 31, 2024. This program is available for enrolled undergraduate and graduate students and their eligible dependents who do not already have insurance and includes comprehensive covered benefits (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and worldwide travel). Visit the SHS website to Check your eligibility for the voluntary plan and learn about the enrollment process.

Wellness Opportunity: The Wellness Empowerment Center Welcomes all Grad Students
|
W.E. Center would like to welcome students to campus this fall and introduce them to the Wellness Empowerment Center (W.E. Center). The W.E. Center is hosting its second annual W.E. Welcome You event on August 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the lawn between Stamps Health Services and the Campus Recreation Center. Students will be able to participate in fun games, enjoy delicious snacks, and walk away with some FREE swag. The event also provides an opportunity for students to engage with W.E. Center staff and learn more about the department’s programs, services, and resources, which are designed to promote student success both in and out of the classroom. Along with all the fun activities, giveaways, and free food, students will learn about the pillars of the department, which include Community Nutrition and Body Image, Health Education, and VOICE.

Are you experiencing stress or anxiety? Struggling academically, socially, or just generally need support? Come talk with someone who gets it and who gets it. Connect with a fellow student through the Peer Coaching Program (PCP) in the Center for Mental Health Care & Resources. Issues that peer coaching can help with include:
- Adjustment to college/Tech Culture
- Academic struggles (e.g. study skills, time management, motivation)
- Stress
- Relationship concerns (e.g. roommates, friendships, dating/partner relationships, family)
- Uncertainty about major/career Path
- Grief and loss
