Jonathan was recognized by Susan Laughlin, Director of Graduate Student Financial Support, as well as several others on his team.
In his role as Lead Business Configuration & Data Analyst, Jonathan’s subject matter expertise has been critical to the success of the Stipends Module for the FSPT Project. Susan described Jonathan’s impact on FSPT as “nothing short of transformative,” highlighting his “rare and powerful combination of deep business knowledge, technical expertise and data fluency.”
Jonathan’s colleagues had a lot more to say and you can read his full story, and the stories of all of our SIS Trailblazers, on the SIS Trailblazer webpage.

Help Us Prepare for the Transition to TSS
|
Action for All Departments/Units:
|
Review your existing training, support and reference materials, then submit them to the TSS Content Inventory. Let us know what will need to be updated, replaced or retired, and share your training needs with us. Your input ensures faculty, staff and students have accurate, up-to-date resources across UC San Diego at launch.

Coordinating TSS Communications Across the University |
As preparation continues for the July 2026 launch of TSS, the project has established a Communications Super Team to help coordinate messaging across UC San Diego.
The group brings together communications and operational representatives from across the university to help ensure updates about TSS are shared clearly and consistently with faculty, staff, students and the Division of Extended Studies (DES).
Working with the organizational change management team, members will help reinforce key messages through their local channels so the campus community can stay informed and prepared as major milestones approach.

TSS Project: You Said, We Did (and What We’re Doing Next) |
Between October and December 2025, the project team gathered candid feedback from subject matter experts (SMEs) to better understand workload pressures, timeline concerns and readiness needs ahead of the July 2026 launch. In response, the team has strengthened support, streamlined communication, enhanced training resources and increased visibility into key milestones and risks. These efforts reflect a continued commitment to adapting based on feedback while supporting the people and processes critical to a successful TSS implementation.

Scheduling in the TSS is now Live! |
Scheduling for Fall 2026 is now live in TSS! Congratulations to the many teams across campus who worked to deploy this critical functionality.
The Registrar’s Office has contacted departmental schedulers to begin the scheduling process. If you are involved in scheduling, please review that information carefully. Division of Extended Studies (DES) scheduling will go live in April.
To support the transition, new Instructional Scheduling Assistant (ISA) training resources are available:
|
The TSS implementation team also continues to host live system demonstrations. This month’s session featured the Schedule Build and Submit functionality in ISA. Slides and recordings are available on the TSS Project Website.
Suggest topics for future TSS demos!

The TSS Training Team is excited to announce that we have launched a centralized training library to support faculty and staff as the university prepares for the transition to TSS. The new Blink page, Triton Student System (TSS) Training, serves as the primary location for training materials, guidance and resources.

Course Approvals Training Revisions are Live |
Great news! The updated course approvals training is now live! The refreshed materials reflect campus feedback, recent process clarifications, outline current approval workflows, expectations and best practices. Submitters and approvers should review the updated training to stay aligned with current process guidance and help prevent common approval delays. Additional resources are also available on the CourseLeaf Project website.

CourseLeaf Major/Minor Code Changes Supporting TSS Preparation |
As UC San Diego prepares for the initial release of the TSS in July 2026, updated major and minor codes are now visible in CourseLeaf course approval forms. These codes identify the department and award type and include a unique program number (e.g., COGS-BA-001), and the codes support system integration between CourseLeaf and TSS.
Existing course approval submissions in CourseLeaf referencing ISIS codes will automatically convert to the new TSS codes, no action is required. Updated major/minor code lists are now available on Blink.

Upcoming Student BAH Report Updates |
The Business Analytics Hub (BAH) is preparing for the retrofit of its student reporting suite to align with the new TSS — a key step in the campus‑wide data transition. The first report to be updated is the Incoming Students Report, which provides colleges, departments and support units with a list of new, returning and visiting students expected to enroll each term.
These updates will ensure the report continues to provide accurate data as the campus transitions from ISIS to TSS. Report updates are being planned in alignment with TSS cutover milestones and the subsequent Student Activity Hub (SAH) data updates. Visit the BAH Blink pages for more details on the report changes being made during the transition and to view the latest report development schedule.

| Kerry McConnell (she/her)
|
Fun Fact: I grew up between Guam, Wyoming, and mostly in the UK—doing barrel racing as a kid—and now live in San Diego. I’m also a brown belt in Kuk Sool Won, an open-water scuba diver who’s fed sting rays underwater, and I’ve ridden everything from horses to an elephant in Sri Lanka.
Hobby: Outside of work I love running, traveling, and chasing adventures that give me, my daughter and husband the chance to see new wildlife.
What do you love about your work? I love helping people navigate change, bringing clarity to the chaos and making the journey feel a little more manageable and even exciting.
