We understand your frustration; we feel the same ourselves — we’re encouraging all members of the community to be vaccinated, we know that many are eager to be vaccinated as soon as possible, but there aren’t enough appointment slots.
Here’s the deal.
Demand for the vaccine has exceeded supply. We are continuing the process of communicating with Phase 1A and 1B NYUers in conjunction with NYU Langone Health, which is asking us to reach out to people as they have appointment slots available. So, some people who were expecting to have heard from us by now have not. And others who
have heard from the University still haven’t been able to book a vaccination appointment.
However, some 3,000 members of our community were contacted by NYULH about making vaccination appointments, and Langone is continuing to make vaccination appointments as limitations permit.
The-slower-than-we-would-prefer reality we are confronting isn’t a problem unique to NYU; it’s happening all over the city and state.
Our goal is to get as many eligible members of our community vaccinated as quickly as possible. Rest assured, everyone in Phase 1A or 1B
will hear from us as vaccination appointments become available. And we are creating vaccination centers at Washington Square and in Brooklyn (though it remains unclear when they’ll receive vaccine stock).
In the meantime, if you are able to get an appointment some other way — through the
New York State COVID vaccination website, through the City COVID vaccination site (
here and
here), your health provider, or another vaccination distribution center — you should not hesitate to sign up for it if you are eligible.
Important note: when you
do receive notice from NYU Langone that you can schedule your vaccination appointment, you must do so
promptly — within 48 hours. You can then set your appointment to be anytime in the following seven days.
