2016 Lancaster
Dissertation Awards

The Graduate Division coordinates the annual Lancaster Dissertation Awards competition. This competition recognizes individuals who, in the opinion of the award committee, have completed dissertations representing original work that makes an important contribution to the discipline. To be eligible for this year's competition, dissertations need to have been completed between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2016. The recipients receive a monetary award and recognition at the Commencement ceremony.
Two awards are given annually in two broad areas that alternate each year as specified by the national Council of Graduate Schools. The 2016 fields of competition are Mathematics, Physical Sciences, & Engineering, and Social Sciences. Winners of the Lancaster Dissertation Awards will be UC Santa Barbara's nominees for the prestigious Council of Graduate Schools/University Microfilms International competition. A number of UC Santa Barbara students have won this national honor in previous years.
The deadline for faculty to submit completed nominations is Friday, April 8, 2016. For more information on these awards, visit these Graduate Division PDF webpages:
