Hi All,

We are on COUNTDOWN TO FAIR! From east to west starting with the Horse Arena, to the Youth Building and the large Animal Barns, to the Small Animal Building...there is something for everyone at the Dodge County Junior Fair!

Club Happenings

Hyland Prairie (Harper Zillmer) Winston Lichty shared that he did a 5K Fun Run with 4-H. Members delivered treats and blankets to the police department and the fire department.

Leipsic (Alexis Vande Kolk) A motioned passed to donate money for the Dan Short memorial bench. Reports were given on roadside clean-up and on the Ham and Jam.

Leipsic (Owen Hemling) Reports were given on Marsh Haven Walk, Roadside Clean-up, June Dairy Month promotion and the petting zoo at Tahoe Park.

Hats Off...

...to Janelle Wiebelhaus-Finger (Juneau Victorians 4-H Volunteer) and Deb Rynearson (Watertown Badgers 4-H Volunteer) who helped with the 4-H 5K Fun Run on July 16.

...to Veronica Richards (Achievers) and Sara Witzel (Astico Perserverance) who were Youth Camp Counselors at the 4-H Sparks Day Camp in Horicon on August 2.

Annual Club & Group Financial Reports Due
September 1st

Each 4-H club and 4-H group is required to complete submit their annual financial report by the
September 1st. Please submit to the Dodge County Extension Office.

Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Report (Fillable PDF);
Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Audit Checklist
A copy of the checkbook and/or savings registry covering July 1 – June 3
A copy of the bank statement ending June 30 or July 1 for each account. Any differences
between the bank statement(s) and the ending balance reported must be reconciled and
the reconciliation must be uploaded with the Annual Financial Report.
A current inventory of land, buildings, property, or project equipment with individual values
of $1,000 or greater.
Monthly Treasurer’s Reports for 4-H Clubs or Groups with annual income greater or equal
to $20,000.

This process allows the 4-H Club or Group to qualify for federal tax-exempt status under
the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents General Exemption Number (GEN) for
Wisconsin 4-H Clubs and Groups. Failure to submit a completed Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Repor and supporting documents by the due date could result in loss of tax-exempt status an forfeiture of all financial assets.

GET READY FOR THE FAIR WITH 4-H!

The Fair Board is offering a private Facebook page for Junior Fair families so the Fair can answer questions. Leaders and parents are welcome (kids with parent's permission). JOIN HERE

4-H BANNERS

4-H Clubs can turn in their banners to 4-H at the Extension office between August 1st-5th or bring it to the Youth Building on August 6th at 9am.

STOCK THE POND! FISH POND PRIZES NEEDED

Donations of 'FISH" are needed for the 4-H Fish Pond! Our fish have been delpleted and we need to RESTOCK the FISH POND! Contact Janet Zander at 920-382-9499 with any questions.

HELP NEEDED!

Fish Pond Prize Wrapping will be in the Youth Building on Wednesday, August 10, at 5:00 pm. Contact Janet Zander at 920-382-9499 with any questions.

Cake Decorating Co-Superintendent Needed: The Junior Fair is in need of a co-superintendent for the Cake Decorating Class. This responsible volunteer would need to be availableto help at the fair during Tuesday check-in, Wednesday judging, and Sunday release. If interested contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us.

Judges Helpers Needed. It takes many hands helping to make the fair run smoothly. If you would like to help during the Junior Fair judging, let us know what department you would like to help in. We expecially need helpers for Cake Decorating and Exploring! Contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us.

Youth Building Supervisors Needed

Youth Building Supervisors are needed during the Fair! We need 8-10 people per shift. Duties include tidying up exhibit areas and keeping walkways safe and clean, greeting visitors, etc. This is OPEN TO FAMILIES. The Youth Building closes every evening at 9:00pm.

Herdsmanship Award News

The MAS Committee voted this past week to continue small and large Beef herdsmanship groups that will be based on number of exhibitors.

We will also be removing the overall educational display awards due to no sponsorship. Please remember that there are points in herdsmanship judging that applies to educational displays.

Beef & Sheep Fitting Contests

Nominations Open for 4-H Executive Board &
4-H Endowment Committee

Encourage club volunteers and youth members to serve on these leadership Boards! The 4-H
Executive Board members can only serve for two terms at a time, with a total of four years.
There are four vacant spots for the board next year and four vacant spots for the youth next
year. This rule is put in place so that the same people are not serving the board and new
opinions are being put out there. The youth have to be in 7th grade or higher in order to be
nominated.
