Stay Informed | Mid-Fall Edition |
I hope you have enjoyed connecting and reconnecting to the NYU Silver community and have found a pace that works for you.
The next few weeks may be filled with assignments and a general increase in workload. Consider building in small self-care breaks now before the rush. Take a stroll to “peep” fall foliage, take advantage of NYU's Mindfulness Resources, or check out our Student Spaces to connect with one another and receive assistance for various needs.
Lastly, below is important information to keep in mind as we continue through the academic year. If you need academic support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your academic advisor.

Runs from Monday, January 5th to Friday, January 16th, 2026.
|
Registration for the January Term opens on Tuesday, October 14th, and closes on Tuesday, January 6th. Remember that you can still request to enroll in one-credit electives after the Add/Drop deadline as long as there are still open seats and it has not yet begun. You can do this by emailing our Silver Enrollment Services Office at silver.registration@nyu.edu. Keep in mind the Withdrawal and Refund Policy for one-credit electives.
|
Since practicums resume in J-Term, students considering studying abroad during the same time period must consult their Faculty Advisor and Practicum Instructor.
Once approved, you must fill out a Required Hours form. More information can be found in the MSW Student Manual (pg. 57).
|
Cross-School Registration |
This policy allows students to take social work-related, graduate-level classes at any of the NYU Schools to fulfill their elective requirements.
Full details in the MSW Student Manual (pg. 19).
|
Students may audit one elective course during their time in the MSW program although they can only do so after completing their required elective credits or registering for their remaining elective requirements.
Full details in the MSW Student Manual (pg. 19).
|
Fall Withdrawal Deadlines |
The deadline to withdraw from any Fall 2025 classes is Monday, November 24th. After this date, it will not be possible to take a leave of absence or drop a course. You can also review the Withdrawal and Refunds from Courses policy (p. 29) for tuition and fee information.

For Students in Their Final Semester |
With graduation approaching, you can check if you’re on track to fulfill all of your graduation requirements; this is also known as auditing your degree. Use these Pathway Checklists or, if you have a more complicated situation, reach out to your academic advisor.
