Foodie Camp

This year for the first time ever there was a 4-H Foodie Camp! It was 3 days of fun-filled food-making! On the first day, the youth played some get-to-know-you games and kicked off the day by making Rice Krispie Treats! Then they made yogurt bars and yogurt parfaits. For lunch, the youth made English muffin pizzas and ate vegetables. After lunch, there was a surprise special guest, the 2023 Fairest of the Fair! She played bingo with the youth and helped make strawberry rhubarb jam! The youth played food hangman and Food Pictionary throughout the day. To end the day, they made recipe books and banana sushi. The second day started off with a few fun questions, and then they made a strawberry poke cake! While that was baking/ cooling youth made homemade Chexmix and veggie dip. After the cake cooled, they decorated it with cool whip and strawberries. For lunch, the youth made grilled cheese with ham, bacon, and tomatoes! After lunch, the youth made baked granola bars and rhubarb crisp. The youth then made homemade salsa and chips and added recipes to their recipe books! On the last day, the youth started out with an activity followed by making caramel apple dip and fruit smoothies. The youth also baked cupcakes to decorate later. For lunch, they made English muffin breakfast sandwiches. After lunch, the youth made apple butter and decorated their cupcakes. To finish up the day, the youth made ranch pretzels, apple donuts, played Jeopardy, and finished up their recipe books. All the youth had a great time. Make sure to check out the Facebook page for more pictures of the week and other events. Next year's Foodie Camp already has so many great ideas and suggestions, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates!

Cloverbud Camp: Superheroes in the Community

The Cloverbuds had several guest speakers throughout the day at Cloverbud Day Camp. The first guest of the day was Jerry with the Appleton and Eldorado fire departments. The youth learned about fire safety and the fire fighter's gear and equipment. The K9 unit stopped in and visited the Cloverbuds, and they learned about what Sergeant Andrew and K9 Ace do. The youth had other superhero activities sprinkled in between guest speakers such as decorating capes, mask making, creating shields, and superhero training (obstacle course). During lunch, the 2023 Fairest of the Fair, Kaitlyn stopped in for a visit. Kicking off the afternoon was guest speaker Brianna, a vet tech, who taught the Cloverbuds about taking their pet to the vet. She walked through what an exam looks like and had all sorts of cool things for the youth to look at. They saw cat and dog teeth models, an eyeball, tapeworms, some x-rays to name a few. They even got to practice using a stethoscope to listen to their heartbeats! The last guest speaker of the day was Cindy, a Navy Veteran. She shared about her service in the Navy. The youth learned about what it was like to live on a ship. Be sure to check out the Facebook page for more pictures of the camp day!

We will be highlighting the 4-H graduates over the next several weeks! Please be sure if you are a 4-H member in grade 12 or grade 13 that you have filled out the graduation survey! The survey is a Google form to be filled out at: https://forms.gle/j6RxNZZzoXbmeKd86.
We ask that you please save the date Sunday, July 23, at 2:00 p.m. for 4-H graduation. Recognition is given at this time, rather than at the 4-H Achievement Program in October because some of the graduates are away at college.
