Remembering the Founders TODAY at 11 a.m., a Tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction |
|
|
Today, we pay tribute to the Brothers of Christian Instruction, with a special Holy Mass at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in honor of Founders Day, the day Walsh College opened on November 17, 1960. Later this evening, at 8 p.m., Campus Ministry will host a hot chocolate social themed “Remembering the Founders” in the lower level of the Chapel. Faculty, staff and alumni will offer memories and anecdotes about the heritage of Walsh and the human stories of the Brothers of Christian Instruction at Walsh. On Thursday, Nov. 16, join the Peacemakers for late-night pancakes with toppings from 8-10 p.m., in the Connector.

Walsh University Mourns the Passing of Sherrie L. Underwood |
|
|
|
Walsh University is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sherrie L. Underwood, Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing, who passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on November 10. A special memorial Holy Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Tuesday November 21 at 11 a.m. Underwood will be remembered as a dedicated nurse and educator who spent her life caring for others and advocating for Walsh students. She was also a Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. To view service times or to leave a heartfelt message for her family, click here. Grief counseling and support services are available for current students in the Herttna Counseling Center in the David Center. Walsh Counseling Services welcomes walk-ins Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Annual Science and Technology Summit Places Walsh on National Stage |

|
Walsh University hosted guests from our local community and around the world yesterday for our annual Science and Technology Summit and was once again lauded by the National Science Foundation for our extraordinary advances in STEM and workforce development. Walsh University Appoints Director of Prevention Education and Programming |
|
|
|
Walsh University has appointed Melanie Timco as the Director of Prevention Education and Programming. Bringing 23 years of educational and leadership experience to this role, Timco will be instrumental in advancing the campus-wide, cross-enterprise Cavaliers Safeguard Initiative by securing funding, enhancing programming and optimizing campus safety through the development of prevention education and the provision of high-quality support services. International Education Week |
International Education Week, celebrated Nov. 13-17, recognizes the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide and the programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences. Join Walsh University’s World Student Organization Thursday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m., in the Barrette Business and Community Center, for the annual International Flag Ceremony and Reception featuring student performances and international desserts.

AYA Integrated Science student, Eleanor Morrow, along with Dr. Jennifer Clevinger, Dr. Eugenia Johnson-Whitt and Dr. Darlene Walro recently represented Walsh University at the Lake Elementary Family Fun STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Night. They led interactive stations where elementary school children used their moisture in their hands to change the shape of a polymer fish and they revealed invisible leaf prints made of baking soda by painting them with turmeric causing a change in color due to pH. The event was attended by 4,000 children and their families!

The Academic Calendar for students, staff, and faculty, includes dates to note throughout the semester, such as add/drop deadlines, last day to withdraw with a “W,” and final grade deadlines.

Now – Dec. 4: Christmas Toy Drive in partnership with Serving Area Military: Collecting toys for the children of military families ages 16 and under. Drop-off boxes are in the David Campus Center near the post office and in the Toot Global Learning Center atrium.
