This week’s focus is honor. It’s something we don’t hear about much these days. But it is a verb. Remember what we learned about verbs in grade school: they’re action words. How do you do it? Here are seven quick tips to take it from concept to practice:
- Focus on what your mate’s doing right, not on the negatives.
- Compliment often. Be specific and go beyond
flattery.
- Express your appreciation for your spouse’s work to help
support the family.
- Brag about your mate to others, whether you’re together or not.
- Address issues privately, in a respectful tone.
- Don’t criticize one another in public. Keep each other’s dignity intact.
- Thank her for just being herself. Thank him for being the man you chose in the first place.
Remember, when we honor one another, we create an environment in our marriage that breeds trust, patience, and intimacy. And you’d like more of that, right?
