Nancy Brady (Speech-Language-Hearing) has been selected to receive the 2025 Honors of the Association from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). It is the highest honor awarded by ASHA in recognition of exceptional contributions to the field.

Kim Beets and Nancy Snow (Philosophy) are co-PIs on a three-year grant for “Character Development at the University of Kansas: The IRISE Virtues Initiative,” $699,287 from the Educating Character Initiative at Wake Forest University. The grant will begin on August 1, 2025 and end on July 31, 2028.

Mohsen Fatemi (School of Public Affairs & Administration) has launched a new monthly column, titled "Bedtime Stories for Public Servants," in PA TIMES Online, the digital publication of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). The series blends storytelling, reflective dialogue, and research-based insights to explore the ethical and emotional dilemmas faced in public service. Call for Applications
FRESSH: Fostering Research Expansion in the Social Sciences & Humanities
FRESSH is designed to help scholars in the arts, social sciences, and humanities in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences apply for and obtain external funding for their research. The program consists of workshops during the academic year during which scholars work with invited guests and each other to develop a proposal suitable for submitting to an external funding agency such as the NEH, ACLS, NSF, or a foundation or residential fellowship program outside the University of Kansas.
Applications are due to fressh@ku.edu by 5 p.m. on August 12. More details at link above.
College Research Product Awards
These awards seek to recognize College faculty members for creating an outstanding research product that makes significant contributions to the scholar’s discipline. Depending on the discipline, the product can be a book, a book chapter, a journal article (or a set of journal articles on a theme), a presentation, a public resource, a piece of art, an exhibit, a play, etc. The award amount is $1,000, which can be paid as summer salary (taxable) or used to support research-related activities and travel.
