IVC celebrated a major milestone in the construction of the new Student Union on June 24. Attendees signed the final beam before it was lifted into place, creating a lasting symbol of the teamwork and collaboration behind the project. Once completed, the Student Union will serve as a welcoming campus hub for the cafeteria, bookstore, Office of Student Life and Student Equity, ASIVC, and other spaces that support student connection, engagement, and belonging. The Classified Employee Appreciation Ice Cream Social brought classified professionals together for an afternoon of connection, recognition, and summer refreshments on June 24. IVC’s annual Strategic Planning Retreat, “Unlocking Our Future with Inspire 2035,” was held on June 9. Faculty, classified professionals, students, and administrators came together to strengthen collaboration, advance campus priorities, and connect IVC’s strategic planning efforts to student success. A highlight of the day was hearing directly from students Josiah Soetomo, Lucienne Sue, Serah Fayad, and Sophia Diaz through video recordings of speeches they delivered at end-of-year celebrations in May. President Hernandez received the 2026 Excellence in Servant Leadership Award from the California Community Colleges Classified Senate (4CS) during its Annual Classified Leadership Institute in early June. A delegation of 14 IVC classified professionals attended the institute, representing the college and participating in professional development and leadership activities with colleagues from across the state. IVC’s ELEVATE AAPI helped bring Filipino culture and community to life at Orange County’s 4th Annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration on June 13. More than 1,000 attendees and 50 local businesses and organizations joined the festivities. The program concluded with IVC’s ELEVATE Readers Theater performing “This Is Us America 2026: Pinays on the Rise,” spotlighting student voices through the arts. IVC’s “Ignite Your Future” digital enrollment campaign has earned a Bronze Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), placing it among standout campaigns from colleges, universities, and schools around the world. The videos featured real IVC students sharing how attending IVC has opened new possibilities and shaped their futures. Their stories reinforced a central message: Hispanic/Latinx students have a place at IVC and a community ready to support them.
