Greetings Mean Green Colleagues,
I hope you are settling into the fall semester and enjoying the energy on campus. We want to give a huge Mean Green welcome to our cohort of new faculty members (look for them in their signature Where Faculty Soar green shirts!) and to our new faculty development specialist, Dr. Jeannette Ginther.
Your Faculty Success team facilitates programming that helps you develop a supportive community, enrich your professional capabilities, advance your career and ensure you thrive in a supportive unit climate. I hope you'll join us Sept. 18 and 25 for our fall Crucial Conversations session, an interactive, skills-based training on managing challenging conversations.

Mayborn Professor Dorothy Bland was named the 2026 National Association of Black Journalists Educator of the Year. Dr. Bland has been active in NABJ for more than 30 years and currently serves as advisor for the UNT NABJ chapter and as NABJ Academic Task Force Treasurer.

Four UNT faculty members will take their teaching, research and creative pursuits abroad with the Fulbright Scholar Program: Ian Finseth, professor of English; Wesley Edwards, associate professor of teacher education and administration; Hae Jin Gam, professor of fashion design; and Kimi King, Distinguished Teaching Professor of political science.
- Daniel Peña, associate professor of English, received a starred review in Publishers Weekly for his forthcoming book, How to Look Away.

Peer Support Through Togetherall |
|
|
Togetherall is a safe, anonymous online platform free to the UNT community that offers chat features, self-help courses, journaling tools and more to promote mental health and wellness.
You can share this resource with your students by including it on your class page in Canvas, sharing the Togetherall slide and/or scheduling a short Togetherall demo or overview for your classes. Register for the Sept. 9 Togetherall webinar to learn more.

GA-48: Gifts from Foreign Entities
|
In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48, UNT prohibits employees from accepting gifts from Foreign Adversary Countries (15 C.F.R. § 791.4), regardless of value, including payment of travel expenses. Any employee who is approached by an individual or group representing these countries that offers gifts or travel must report the interaction to University Integrity and Compliance at compliance@unt.edu.

UNT Policy 15.017: International Travel
|
International travelers participating in university-sponsored travel are required to register their travel at least three weeks before departure.
According to Texas Executive Order GA-48, University employees may not travel to Foreign Adversary Countries (15 C.F.R. § 791.4) to conduct official university business. University employees, including student employees, who wish to travel to a Foreign Adversary Country for personal reasons must notify the university of their plans to travel prior to departure and complete a post-travel report after their return to the United States. Travel registration forms can be found on the International Travel website.
