| Missouri Method in Action
|
The Missouri Method isn’t confined to newsrooms or agencies. Graduate and undergraduate students are working with associate professor Jared Schroeder to gain valuable research experience. Schroeder nurtures independence in his students, with many publishing solo-authored, award-winning papers. One such paper was authored by sophomore Ivy Reed, whose first-ever foray into academic research will be recognized at the upcoming AEJMC conference. Another, authored by Skye Lucas, won Top Student Paper at the AEJMC Southeast Colloquium.

Professor Emeritus Stacey Woelfel will be honored with the esteemed Edward L. Bliss Award for Distinguished Broadcast Journalism Education at the AEJMC Conference in early August. Woelfel served as news director of KOMU-TV for more than 24 years, becoming the longest-tenured news director in the history of the NBC affiliate station. He subsequently became the founding director of the Murray Center for Documentary Journalism before his retirement in 2021.
