The J-School’s Class of 1975 broadcast graduates returned to Columbia last fall to celebrate their 50-year reunion. During their campus visit, alumni reconnected with the School’s roots and its future. Dean David Kurpius shared the J-School’s strategic vision, and John Anderson, the Leonard H. Goldenson Endowed Chair in Radio and Television Journalism, highlighted the sports journalism program. The group toured the Missouri News Network newsroom and KOMU. The class also honored former faculty members Roger Gafke, BJ ’61, MA ’62, and Max Utsler, MA ’73, Ph.D. ’81, for their mentorship and recognized Rick Gevers, BJ ’75, for his longtime leadership in keeping classmates connected.

In December, students in MOJO Ad — the J-School’s student-staffed ad agency — presented three creative advertising campaigns to Jamie Sohosky, BJ ’93, the chief marketing officer for Bath & Body Works. Each team presented a distinct, research-backed approach to getting the brand’s products into the hands of social media-savvy Gen Z. The presentation marked another return to campus for Sohosky, who delivered the J-School’s winter 2024 commencement address.
