EDAC & ATs Care Host Call-In Night for Students Aug. 5
The NATA Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee and ATs Care Commission will host a call-in night for NATA student members at 7 p.m. CDT Aug. 5. The event will provide students the opportunity to express their emotional reactions to racial injustice, COVID-19 and the overall uncertainty many are experiencing in a group setting, under the guidance of ATs Care team members trained in ICISF’s Group Intervention. ATs Care team members will educate attendees about the effects of critical incident stress and how to identify the signs of critical incident stress in themselves and others. Members of EDAC and the NATA Student Leadership Committee will be on hand to provide information and resources to attendees.

Manuscripts for ATEJ Pedagogy Issue Due Aug. 15
The
Athletic Training Education Journal is accepting manuscripts for a special thematic issue focusing on educating future athletic training professionals through Aug. 15. The purpose of this issue is to examine educational techniques (didactic and clinical education) athletic training educators can use to ensure future athletic trainers at all levels (professional, post-professional and residency) are trained using the unique and effective pedagogy practices that consider the needs and preferences of the learner.

New COVID-19 Patient Education Resources Available
NATA worked jointly with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine to develop resources athletic trainers can share with parents. These resources can be found on the NATA COVID-19 resource page and are designed to educate patients and the public on safer participation in sports during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Council for Education Chair Applications Due Aug. 14
The call for the Executive Council for Education Chair is now open. The mission of the ECE is to inform and assist the profession in setting the direction for athletic training education. Emphasizing a commitment to improving patient care through an evidence-based approach, the ECE proactively influences best educational practices that reflect athletic training’s interprofessional nature and commitment to learning. The ECE is charged with developing direction and policy for NATA’s educational programs. The incoming chair selected will fulfill this role starting in June 2021. You can find a detailed description of the position and the application process at the NATA Now blog. Applications are due by Aug. 14.
