Social justice is an important part of my life, including attending protests. Does that violate the health and safety rules?
Nope, it's not a problem as long as you play it safe. We are not at all looking to curb your right to free speech; we are looking to curb the spread of COVID-19.
So, if you are going to join a protest, do the right thing: wear a face covering at all times, physically distance from others, and, if you find yourself in a situation where you can't do those things or unsafe practices are widespread (it's crowded, people are close together, they're not wearing masks), then please leave. At this point, we should all have a fairly good idea about which behaviors are safe and which are not, and commuity members should expect to be held accountable for observing NYU's public health guidelines if they are engaging in the latter, whether on campus or off.
