High School Planning Meeting and Open House
Dear Eighth Grade Families,
On Thursday, October 7 at 1 p.m., we will kick off the high school search process. We look forward to you joining us for this meeting in Singleton Hall's Allen Library.
For the first thirty minutes, we will provide an overview of the process as well as answer questions. Eighth grade students will join us at 1:30 p.m. to explore in more detail the role each of us plays in making this process a positive one. At about 1:45 p.m., we'll adjourn to the Great Hall and outdoor spaces where admission officers from Richmond area schools, as well as a few Virginia boarding schools, will be available to talk about their programs and answer your questions.
Attached is our "Guide to the High School Search Process." This document represents a distillation of many years of experience assisting students and their families through the high school search process. Please save it for future reference. Additionally, we suggest you and your child read it prior to the October 7 meeting. You will both get a lot more out of our session if you do. (NOTE: As COVID is delaying or changing some of the admissions program planning at area high schools, we will be updating the document as needed as St. Michael's receives new information from schools.)
The Maggie Walker Governor's School open house schedule can be found HERE.
Henrico and Chesterfield have yet to release their specialty center open house plans. St M will share this information as soon as we receive it.
We look forward to seeing you on October 7 and setting a solid foundation from which you and your child can begin a journey toward high school.
Kindly,
Bob Gregg, Head of School
Jessica Stargell, Middle School Director
