Walsh University wishes you and yours a wonderful Christmas holiday and a Happy New Year. As a reminder, the campus will be closed for winter break, Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, with offices and campus services reopening on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
We hope to see you at the Welcome Back Fair on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the David Campus Center for an afternoon full of food, fun activities, and opportunities to get set up for a successful spring semester. Read More (PDF)

Ready for a Smooth Return to Campus? Here's What You Need to Know for January 2025!
As you enjoy your winter break, take a moment to ensure you are prepared for an easy transition back to campus. Here are a few reminders to help you get ready for the new semester:
Student ID Badge:
Keep your student ID in a safe place over break so it is ready to go in January.
Parking Permit Hanger:
Hold on to your current parking permit—it is the same one you will use in the spring. If your residency status changes over the break, visit the Office of Student Affairs when you return to update your permit.
Spring Classes in ECN:
Spring 2025 courses are now available in ECN. Don’t see all your classes on your Favorites bar? Use the waffle icon in the top right to find all courses and adjust your Favorites (note: the bar holds a maximum of 8 classes).
Help Desk Support:
The Help Desk is open this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closing early at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 20). After winter break, the Help Desk reopens on Thursday, Jan. 2. Stop by 212 Farrell Hall, call 330-244-4357, or email helpdesk@walsh.edu for assistance. Please note: no after-hours or winter break support is available.

Microsoft Authenticator: Make sure you’ve set up the app to access email and other campus services.
- Password Expiry: Not sure if your password will expire? Change it before you leave to avoid issues. Passwords expire every 90 days.

Multi-Factor Authentication: Set up two methods at aka.ms/MFASetup to stay connected.
- Authenticator App: Install the app and link it to your device for seamless login, even without wireless coverage.

International Students: If switching phones while traveling, update multi-factor authentication for your new device before heading home.

Before leaving for break, shut down all computers and turn off monitors to save energy.

Cavs Cave: Winter Break Essentials |
Staying on campus over the holiday? Don’t let winter break catch you off guard—stop by the Cavs Cave in Hannon, Room 103, to stock up on snacks, groceries, and other essentials! The Cavs Cave is open to all students in need, free of charge. You will find shelves full of non-perishable items, a refrigerator/freezer stocked with fresh and frozen food, and a variety of personal hygiene products. The hours are 10 a.m.to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and access is simple with your Walsh ID swipe. Be sure to stop by before the end of the day on Thursday, Dec. 19, to grab what you need. This program is here to support you—take advantage of it and make your winter break stress-free!

Annual Science & Business Innovation Summit at Walsh University |
The Annual Science and Business Innovation Summit at Walsh University has grown into a premier three-day event that bridges the worlds of academia, business, science, government, and the community. Launched as a platform for fostering creative problem-solving and scientific discovery, the Summit includes innovative research presentations, industry-led discussions, and hands-on learning opportunities. This dynamic gathering highlights Walsh University’s commitment to innovation and its role as a hub for innovation. In its multi-day format, the event has become a pillar of the University’s engagement with local, national, and global communities, fostering partnerships that drive economic development and technological progress.
SPARQ Summit and Single Quad LCMS-2050 Seminar – Wednesday
The first day of the Summit kicks off with the SPARQ Summit and Single Quad LCMS-2050 Seminar, hosted by Shimadzu in partnership with Walsh University. This event celebrates the transformative SPARQ (Shimadzu Partnership for Academics, Research, and Quality of Life) program, advancing scientific discovery through innovative technology and collaboration. The day features presentations from SPARQ recipients, who will highlight impactful research and best practices, followed by a seminar on Shimadzu’s innovative LCMS-2050 technology.
SPARQ Poster Session – Thursday
On Thursday, Jan. 30, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the SPARQ Poster Session will take place in the Barrette Business and Community Center. Faculty and students from SPARQ partner schools will present groundbreaking research projects that utilize Shimadzu’s advanced technology. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with researchers and explore innovations driving progress in science and technology.
Networking Luncheon and Program – Thursday

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend Accelerating Economic Development at Mach 5 Speed, a Networking Luncheon and Program, held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Barrette Business and Community Center. The event will bring together leaders from the business, science, and government sectors to explore innovative advancements and opportunities for collaboration.
Keynote presentations will feature Michael White, Managing Member of WhiteAero, LLC, and Former Principal Director for Hypersonics in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, who will discuss the evolution and future of hypersonic technologies and their applications in military and commercial sectors. Joining him is Dr. Victor McCrary, Vice Chairman of the National Science Board, who will share insights on fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Innovation Challenge – Thursday
The day concludes with a Dessert Reception and Networking beginning at 2 p.m., followed by the 2nd Annual Innovation Challenge from 3 to 4:45 p.m. in the Marlene & Joe Toot Global Learning Center. Entrepreneurs and startups will pitch their innovative ideas and technologies to a panel of industry experts, investors, and academic leaders. Competitors will vie for a $10,000 prize in services from Walsh’s Center for Scientific Excellence, supporting the development of groundbreaking ideas and technologies.

Science and Business Entrepreneurship Day – Friday

On Friday, Jan. 31, nearly 300 high school students from high schools across northeast Ohio will visit Walsh University to participate in Science and Business Entrepreneurship Day. The program, directed toward students interested in science and/or are entrepreneurial-minded, includes hands-on activities and discussions with Walsh faculty and business professionals, and industry leaders. Seating is limited. Walsh faculty, staff and students interested in participating in (and/or volunteering at) any of the activities should contact the Dean of their school or Dr. Dan Passerini at dpasserini@walsh.edu.

They are very excited to see the tremendous impact that this board will have on the DSoB and the accounting program. More Information
