I’m not feeling great, but I’m concerned about missing class. What should I do?
The short and simple answer: stay home!
We know students are hard working, conscientious folks who take their academic responsibilities — and their club activities and their participation on athletics teams — very seriously. But staying home when you’re sick isn’t slacking off — it’s one of the most effective measures you can take to protect the health of others and prevent the spread of COVID-19, flu, and other illnesses. It’s the right thing to do.
If you have any of the
symptoms of COVID-19, you should
report your symptoms to the NYU COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team (CPRT). The CPRT will provide you with next steps and guidance, including information about getting tested. Also, let your professor know you’re staying home from class because you feel sick, and that you’re looking for direction on how to keep up with the coursework.
And if you test positive at any testing location, please be sure you
report your results to the CPRT, so they can take the necessary steps to care for you, while protecting those around you.
