2024 Foodie Camp

June 17th -19th was 3 days of fun-filled food making at 4-H Foodie Camp! On the first day, the youth played some get-to-know-you games and made Pineapple Upside-Down Cake! Then they made ice cream and veggie chips. For lunch, the youth made mac and Cheese and ate vegetables. After lunch, the youth played bingo and made sourdough cheese. Next, the youth made marshmallows and learned how to use a candy thermometer. To end the day, they created recipe books and fruit pizzas.
The second day started off with a few fun questions, and then the youth made apple cider doughnut bundt cake! While that was baking, they made veggie pizza and cinnamon apple crisps. For lunch, the youth made grilled cheese with ham and cheese quesadillas! After lunch, the youth played some games and made banana bread, and tried some chocolate dipping with strawberries, Oreos, and pretzels! The youth then made puppy chow to take home and added recipes to their recipe books!
On the last day, the youth started with an activity followed by making raspberry mousse, yogurt bites, and fruit popsicles. The youth also baked cupcakes to decorate later. For lunch, they made homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, and veggie dip. During lunch, a special award was given to two campers who went above and beyond in the kitchen! The two campers were Christian and Langdon! Congratulations to these two hard-working youth! After lunch, the youth made oatmeal peanut butter bites and decorated their cupcakes. To finish up the day, the youth made dirt cups, pop tarts, and jam, and finished up their recipe books.
All the youth had a great time. Make sure to check out the Facebook page for more pictures of the week and other events. Next year's Foodie Camp already has many great ideas and suggestions, so watch for updates!

NEW FDL Co. Fair  Photo Contest

Calling all amateur photographers! This contest is for you. Carol Stanchfield, an exhibitor at the Fair for over seventy years, loved photography! If you knew Carol, you knew she always had a camera in her hand. This contest is to keep her passion alive and find that perfect picture to display at the Fond du Lac County Fair. Carol’s favorite pictures were of sunsets, clouds, and anything pink. Therefore, those are the three entry categories. All ages are welcome as long as you are an amateur photographer, one who takes pictures for personal reasons, with no monetary compensation from any related source.
Entry deadline is Monday, July 15. Fill out this form to register: https://forms.gle/LvmsQdTQA2z1wvoC6.
