On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:40 a.m., the Department of Campus Safety received a report of an aggravated assault that occurred on November 26 at approximately 5:00 p.m., at the intersection of Washington Square South and Thompson Street, in Manhattan.
The complainant, a Non-NYU affiliate, was walking northbound on Thompson Street towards Washington Square Park, when an unknown individual on a bike riding eastbound on Washington Square South, almost hit the victim. The victim put out their hand to protect themselves. The suspect turned the bike around, approached the victim, dismounted the bike, and a physical altercation ensued. As the altercation continued south onto Thompson Street, the suspect wielded a four inch knife with a silver blade, stating "I'm going to kill you" and stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspect got back on their bike and fled eastbound on West 3rd Street.
As a result of the assault, the victim suffered lacerations to the back of their head and a collapsed lung. The NYPD and EMS responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.
Description of Suspect: The suspect was described as male-presenting with a dark complexion, approximately 5'7" tall. The victim described the suspect's race/ethnicity as black, wearing a camouflage jacket, blue/black sneakers, and black pants. The suspect was riding a white bike with a red delivery bag.
