IVC’s Adopt A Family Tradition Brings Holiday Support to Students and Families |
On December 5, the EOPS/CARE/NextUp/CalWORKs/Guardian Scholars Department hosted its 39th annual Adopt-A-Family event, welcoming nearly 90 attendees, including 44 parenting students and 46 children and guests. Beyond the event, the campus-wide Adopt-A-Family program supported 70 parenting students and nearly 130 children with toys and gifts this season. Generous community support—including cash donations, more than 800 books, and over 190 toys—underscored IVC’s continued commitment to supporting students and their families. IVC Hosts Educational Partners Conference Focused on Student Success |
IVC recently hosted the Educational Partners Conference (formerly known as High School Counselors Conference), welcoming regional educational k-12 partners to the Performing Arts Center for a half-day program focused on transfer pathways, student support services, and collaborative strategies to promote college success. Following a welcome presentation, breakout sessions showcased IVC’s programs, academic and career pathways, and dual enrollment opportunities for middle and high school students. Health and Wellness Center Spreads Holiday Cheer |
On December 12, the Health and Wellness Center hosted its annual Spreading Holiday Cheer celebration, welcoming students and employees for a festive pause during finals season. Designed to offer a lighthearted break from end-of-semester stress, the gathering brought the campus community together in a warm, cheerful atmosphere as the fall term came to a close. Women's Basketball Keeps Moving Up, Now No. 7 in State RPI |
The Irvine Valley women's basketball team, which has a record of 10-1 overall, and has won six contests in a row has moved up to No. 7 in the state in the RPI rankings through the 3C2A Monday. Irvine Valley defeated LA Mission, 53-32, last Tuesday at home behind 20 points and seven rebounds from sophomre wing player Kivonni Williams and then beat Citrus, 88-41, on the road on Friday night. Realizing a Dream: Avary Johnson's Remarkable Beginning |
A recent summa cum laude graduate of Irvine Valley College (IVC), Avary Johnson’s foray into the field of education began at a young age.
While still in high school she completed IVC’s 12-unit Early Childhood Teacher Assistant Pathway and earned a Certificate of Proficiency.
Thanks to her Advanced Placement, dual, and concurrent enrollment credits, Avary entered IVC as a second-year college student immediately after graduating high school. Read More About Avary Johnson »
