"Bridgeport Plans to Reopen Pleasure Beach" - Wall Street Journal

One of the two water taxis, "Lewis Latimer," which will transport passengers to and from Pleasure Beach.
After nearly two decades of being closed, Mayor Bill Finch and the City of Bridgeport is ready to open Pleasure Beach this summer.
The largest newspaper in the country, The Wall Street Journal visited the 71 acre peninsula, which has previously served as home to an amusement park, hosted professional baseball teams such as the Chicago Cubs, and was visited by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 when he was governor of New York.
Pothole Killer comes to Bridgeport

As Bridgeport’s streets continue to recover from a long winter that wreaked havoc on its roads, this week the City introduced the newest addition to its arsenal to combat potholes – the Pothole Killer. It’s part of the City’s continued effort to make roads better, and even safer, for those who live and work in the city.
“Thanks to the hard work of our Public Facilities crews, we have fixed a record number of potholes. But we know that there is more work to be done, said Mayor Bill Finch. “The Pothole Killer allows our crews to work even faster and more efficiently to improve driving conditions in the Park City.”
So far in Fiscal Year 2014, Public Facilities has filled more than 13,000 potholes using 443 tons of hot patch and 192 tons of cold patch. That number is nearly a 7,000 pothole increase from last fiscal year.

Mayor Finch: "It’s a great day for thousands of adoptees in Connecticut"
Mayor Bill Finch applauded Gov. Dannel P. Malloy for signing a long overdue adoption bill into law (H.B. 5144) this week. Mayor Finch is also thanking the General Assembly for their overwhelming support of this legislation, passing it in the Senate by a vote of 31-5 and in the House by a vote of 135-68.
“It’s a great day for thousands of adoptees in Connecticut,” said Mayor Finch. “As an adoptee, I know first-hand what it’s like to lack access to your birth records. And, adoptees in Connecticut have been treated like second class citizens for too long, unable to access our birth records that can help us understand medical issues that we might face and giving us a further understanding of our identities. But thanks to the Connecticut General Assembly and Governor Malloy, 24,000 adoptees in Connecticut will finally have the birth records access that they deserve.”
