Saving the Lives of Veterans and First Responders with PTSD
April 2020
Join in and give!
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving in response to current events. Even though we are practicing social distancing, this is a great way to remain connected. We would like to ask you to consider giving, whether that is making a donation or sharing about the program with your community. We're so thankful for your continued support.
How can you donate?
  • Donate $22 a month in honor of the 22 veterans that commit suicide every day. You can choose which dog you would like to support and keep track of their progress on their individual dog page.
  • Feed and groom a dog for $50. Provide healthcare and training supplies for $100.
  • Purchase original artwork and prints that were donated by inmate artists in the program. Click this link to take a look at our Etsy page.
  • Create a Facebook fundraiser! Click this link to set it up.

"A New Life—My Time in Prison"

"While handlers are waiting their turn with Nicole, I offer to take portraits. The response is overwhelming. The handlers immediately begin to excitedly line up with their dogs to have their photos taken. The pride they have in being a part of the program is readily apparent."
— Jon Pearson
We're grateful that photographer Jon Pearson was able to capture the program at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo. Jon wrote about his experience visiting the prison in a blog post. Click the button below to read it.

Thank You, Volunteers!

We celebrated Volunteer Appreciation Month this April! Volunteer weekend Puppy Parents are the backbone of this program. There are many dogs that are remaining at the prisons with their handlers for the time being. Other dogs are staying at home with Puppy Parents. Hang in there, everybody! The dogs are continuing to practice each day. Thank you all for going above and beyond in supporting, caring for, and loving the dogs in the program. We couldn't do it without you!
