Adults are NEEDED to serve as Confirmation Leaders!
We have the potential of having lots of confirmands this year! This is a great opportunity for you to “Be 1 of 5” adults in the life of our youth. Please contact Brandon Sangster at bsangster@st.lukes.org with questions and/or to volunteer.
COME JOIN THE SQUAD!
Everyone wants a squad — a community of people that cares for us, helps and supports us, and gives us a place to belong. In short, we all want to be part of a community that feels like family. That kind of community isn’t easy to come by, but it’s exactly what Jesus had in mind for His followers when the Church first began. For the next few weeks, as we get back together, we’ll discuss and discover why the word “Church” means something much bigger than a building! We’ll learn what life was like for some of the earliest Christians, and we’ll explore four big ideas that mean as much for us today as they did to the Christ-followers who lived nearly 2,000 years ago. The truth is, we can ALL be part of God’s family because we’re God’s family, we can do for others what God has done for us, we can grow together, and we can stand strong together.
PARENTS:
“Cliques”... For some teenagers (and some adults), a clique is always a bad thing. But should it be? Sometime in the next few weeks, talk to your kid about their experience with “cliques”. Listen to their stories, and then talk about how to find a balance between building a community of trusted friends and continuing to welcome and be inclusive of others. (But be prepared — this conversation might reveal a conflict you need to help them navigate.)
ADULTS... OUR YOUTH NEED YOU!
It’s time for us to Awaken Disciples through Community, Worship, and Grade GROUPS.
Each week (August-May) after a time of connection and worship, we will break off into Grade Groups. There, we will have fun and dive deep as we engage in relevant discussions about faith and how it impacts our lives and those around us.
Our amazing team of adult leaders plays a vital part in this as we strive for authentic relationships and connection with our youth, leading to real “Be 1 of 5” discipleship and giving them a sense of belonging.
If you’d like to be a Grade Group Leader, a Host (a new opportunity to serve and connect with our youth), or another youth ministry volunteer opportunity please email Brandon at bsangster@st.lukes.org.
SAVE THE DATES
We are really looking forward to this school year with lots of things planned (with details to come)! Be sure to save these 2021 & 2022 dates as you open up those planners and calendars.

PFLAG 🏳️‍🌈
PFLAG’s (formally Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) mission is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ+ people and allies who support one another and to educate ourselves and our communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value, and affirm LGBTQ+ people.
A PFLAG group will once again start meeting monthly in September here at St. Luke's. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 23 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in Building C, Room 208. CDC guidelines will be followed, wearing masks, and social distancing.
Again, know that PFLAG’s mission is to support, educate, and advocate for equality for our beloved LGBTQ+ relatives and friends. Each group also supports one another in whatever part of the process they are experiencing. This is a great chance for you to learn how to support LGBTQ+ youth and friends.
