Last spring we had the pleasure of working with William, a shy elementary student whose intense anxiety made it nearly impossible for him to enter the auditorium at his school to join our weekly Upstream Arts class.
With persistent gentle invitations from our teaching artists, he was able to find his way in. By the end of the year, his teacher noticed and remarked on his eager participation, saying “It was a joy to watch!”
We're dedicated to inviting more students like William into classrooms with us. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we have already raised $1,175 of the $7,000 it will take to bring another residency program on board next spring!
We still have $1,325 remaining of our matching funds, generously pledged by CommonSense Consulting@Work! "Experience that Works."
